Good As Gold

Even though I don’t really keep up on celebrity news, I do love to see the all the new designer dresses worn to the fancy events. This year at the Golden Globes black and white were prominent in slim silhouettes full of cut-outs, rich textures, and full length sequins!

The Great Gatsby

For those of you who don’t know, The Great Gatsby is a classic novel written by the great, American author F. Scott Fitzgerald. The novel takes place in New York during the 1920′s, a time where both Prohibition and the “Roaring Twenties” were in full swing.

The plot is a twisted story of deception, loss, money and love with extravagant parties and in my opinion, great fashion. It was a time of glamour with drop waists, flapper dresses, large coats, chic hats and head bands. Even the men’s fashion had a greatness to it in the 20′s, with the fitted suits and upscale active wear. This year, the 1920′s made a comeback cameo on Fall 2012 runway’s, showing up in classic trends of the time period.

Girls

HBO’s new show “Girls” premiered last night, and it’s shaping up to be a younger, less glamorous girl’s Sex and the City (and I mean that in a good way). For me, Sex and the City did touch on subjects more realistically than most other shows about women, but a lot of it seemed over the top. Girls focuses on younger women living in New York City and deals with gritty topics, such as the economy, drugs, sex and even butt sex all in the first episode.
